A Different Approach to Therapy

For many, seeking help can feel frustrating—quick diagnoses, short-term fixes, and a system that treats symptoms rather than the whole person. I know this because I’ve seen it firsthand. My dissatisfaction with traditional mental health services and the medical model’s one-size-fits-all approach led me to create something different.

My approach is existential-analytic therapy, grounded in the belief that therapy isn’t about “fixing” people—it’s about being with them rather than doing to them. Healing isn’t about suppressing or avoiding emotions; it’s about allowing yourself to feel it to heal it.

How I Can Help

I provide individual and couples therapy for those navigating:

Complex mental health challenges, including suicidal thoughts, self-harm, addiction, trauma, and relational difficulties
Feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you
Anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm
Strained relationships and communication difficulties
A sense of disconnection or existential crisis
Processing difficult life experiences in a safe, supportive space

Therapy with me isn’t about surface-level fixes or temporary relief—it’s about deep exploration, real connection, and meaningful change.

Experience That Makes a Difference

I have worked extensively in crisis mental health teams and IAPT services, supporting people in their most challenging moments. This experience allows me to work sensitively with high distress, risk, and complex emotional struggles, helping clients find stability, insight, and hope when they need it most.

Why Work With Me?

Being With, Not Doing To – Therapy isn’t about quick solutions; it’s about being fully present with you in your experience.
Feel It to Heal It – Suppressed emotions don’t disappear; they build up. I create a space where you can process them safely.
Depth Over Surface-Level Fixes – I don’t just give you coping tools; I help you explore what’s underneath your struggles for lasting change.
Safe, Supportive Exploration – No judgment, no pressure—just the space to be real, reflect, and find clarity.

Therapy That Respects Your Story

Your experiences matter. Your emotions deserve space. Healing isn’t about fitting into a diagnosis—it’s about understanding yourself, your relationships, and your life in a way that makes sense to you.

About Me

“When relationships feel strained or life feels too heavy, you don’t have to face it alone.”

I’m Kenny, a warm and down-to-earth therapist who works with people feeling stuck in their relationships, overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by depression, or simply unsure how to move forward in life. Many of my clients come to me at a point where communication has broken down, self-confidence has waned, or old coping habits are no longer effective.

My role is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can talk honestly about what’s going on, be genuinely heard, and begin to make sense of your struggles. Together, we’ll uncover new ways of relating — both to yourself and to those around you.

How Can I Help

I can support you if you are:
  • Feeling distant, disconnected, or in conflict in your relationship.
  • Struggling with trust, identity, or self-esteem.
  • Carrying the weight of anxiety, depression, or unresolved trauma.
  • Relying on unhelpful coping strategies — such as alcohol, substances, or avoidance.
  • Trying to navigate big life changes such as loss, separation, or cultural identity struggles.
Therapy with me isn’t about judgment or quick fixes. It’s about slowing down, understanding what’s really happening, and finding healthier, more meaningful ways to move forward.

Why Work With Me

Before training as a therapist, I worked for many years as a psychiatric nurse — supporting people through crisis, addiction, and relationship breakdown. I understand both the depth of emotional pain and the possibility of recovery. My integrative approach involves drawing from a range of therapeutic methods, tailoring each session to your specific needs.
Most importantly, clients tell me they feel comfortable, understood, and encouraged in our work together.

My Belief

I see therapy as a journey of rediscovery. Even in the most challenging seasons, change is possible. With the proper support, you can rebuild trust, reconnect with yourself, and create stronger, healthier relationships.

Phenomenological & Existential-Analytic Psychotherapist (in training towards UKCP accreditation)
Helping you make sense of your emotions, your past, and your place in the world.

Therapy for Anxiety, Depression & Relationship Difficulties in Surrey

If you’re feeling anxious, low, or overwhelmed by the pressures of life and relationships, therapy can help you find clarity and strength again.

I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can explore what’s really going on beneath the surface — your thoughts, emotions, and the patterns that keep you stuck. Together, we’ll work towards a deeper understanding of yourself and a clearer sense of direction.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach is existential-analytic and phenomenological.
Rather than telling you what to think, this approach helps you explore why you think, feel, and experience life the way you do. It focuses on understanding your unique perspective, the meanings you attach to your experiences, and the ways your relationships and past may be influencing your present.

Through this process, you can begin to:

  • Understand the deeper roots of your anxiety, stress, or low mood.

  • Break free from repeating emotional or relational patterns.

  • Reconnect with confidence, purpose, and self-trust.

  • Feel more grounded, resilient, and at peace with who you are.

Areas I Work With

I work with individuals experiencing:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Relationship and family difficulties

  • Emotional, physical, and sexual abuse

  • Addiction and trauma

  • Self-harm and suicidal thoughts

  • Burnout and loss of meaning

I also bring sensitivity to faith, culture, gender, and identity, recognising how these shape our experiences and sense of belonging.

About Me

I am currently training toward UKCP accreditation in Existential-Analytic Psychotherapy through the Southern Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling (SAFPAC). Alongside my private practice at Thrive Together Psychotherapy, I also work with a charitable counselling organisation supporting adults through complex emotional and relational struggles.

I aim to create a space where you can feel seen, heard, and understood — without pressure, pretence, or judgement.

Lorraine Dagoo — Trainee Counsellor (Pluralistic: Psychodynamic + Humanistic)

“The past doesn’t define us, but understanding it can set us free.”

Best fit

Individuals navigating stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-defeating patterns, mild anger, uncomplicated grief/loss, or relationship difficulties (individual work only—no couples). Especially helpful if you’re coping with health changes, bereavement, or life transitions and want a calm, steady space to make sense of it all.

How I help (why clients choose this)

  • Feel calmer, quicker: practical tools to lower daily overwhelm.

  • Understand your patterns: gentle insight into the “why” behind thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

  • Build self-worth: shift inner criticism; grow a kinder, stronger voice.

  • Make changes that stick: small, realistic steps that fit your life.

  • Be fully heard: a safe, non-judgemental space—no pressure, no rush.

My approach

I blend psychodynamic understanding (how past experiences shape the present) with humanistic care (you’re met as a whole person), using a pluralistic approach to tailor sessions to your needs. My NHS background as a Care Coordinator means I’m experienced with people facing illness, loss, and change—and I bring that steadiness into the room.

What we can work on together

  • Stress & burnout — restore balance and boundaries

  • Anxiety — ease racing thoughts; grow confidence in uncertainty

  • Low self-esteem — rebuild a solid sense of self

  • Self-defeating behaviours — notice triggers; choose new responses

  • Mild anger issues — understand feelings; express them safely

  • Grief & loss (uncomplicated) — process, honour, and adapt

  • Relationship challenges (individual) — improve communication, needs, and boundaries

Gemma Kervaon Taylor

Trainee Counsellor | Integrative & Existential Approach
Helping you regain clarity, confidence, and a sense of direction.

About Me

“When life feels overwhelming or uncertain, therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and begin again.”

I’m Gemma Kervaon Taylor, a Trainee Counsellor offering a compassionate and practical approach to emotional wellbeing. My path into counselling began over 17 years ago when I completed all three levels of foundational training. At the time, I was a single parent navigating significant life challenges, which led me to temporarily step back from formal counselling to support others in different but equally meaningful ways.

During that time, I worked with some of the most marginalised groups in society — including care leavers, NEETs, and ex-offenders — helping them rebuild confidence, direction, and self-belief through structured, supportive programmes. These experiences strengthened my ability to meet people exactly where they are, combining empathy with clear focus and accountability.

Now, as I continue my qualification in Integrative Therapy and expand my existential-analytic practice, I bring together insight, compassion, and a belief that everyone has the capacity to change when given the right conditions of warmth, structure, and possibility.

How I Can Help

I support individuals who feel stuck, uncertain, or emotionally overwhelmed to make sense of their experiences and move forward with greater self-understanding.

My areas of focus include:

  • Managing low mood, anxiety, and emotional burnout

  • Rebuilding confidence, identity, and self-worth

  • Processing trauma, loss, or long-term stress

  • Navigating relationship difficulties or life transitions

  • Developing resilience and trust in your ability to cope

Whether you’re returning to therapy or starting for the first time, I offer a calm, grounding, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your story, gain clarity, and rediscover strength in yourself.
